The Ski and Snowboard Short Break Specialist

Sometimes going on a ski holiday or short break can be a bit off-putting for some single or solo skiers. Whether because of the additional cost of single room supplements, or simply being alone when everyone else is in a group having fun, it’s not always the ideal scenario.

Here at Ski Weekender, we don’t think you should have to miss out as a result of either. Whilst we don’t offer specific ‘singles only’ holidays or activities, we do go out of our way to ensure you feel welcome and included to whatever degree you choose.

We also have some options for you to get around the single supplement as well!

Single and Solo Skiers at the Aravis Lodge

Of course we might be biased, but we think our home base here at Aravis Lodge is a great place for single and solo skiers to come for a ski short break or holiday.

At any time, there are always a number of individuals staying with us here for a weekend or midweek break looking to ski or snowboard, relax and have a good time in great company. In fact, it’s quite common for guests to leave us having made friends for life, and even return together for future ski holidays!

Here are some reasons why the Aravis Lodge is a great choice for a solo ski weekend, midweek break or longer:

Sociable 44 person chalet-hotel

All the comforts of a hotel, all the social benefits of a chalet, but with more people to meet! More about all that in the points below.

Several social spaces to meet others

Our spacious onsite bar is a great place to relax after a day on the slopes and meet fellow guests over a few pre- or post-dinner drinks. There are plenty of games available to break the ice, including giant jenga, mini table tennis, board games and cards.

In addition, there is a cosy lounge with comfy sofas, as well as a television room with Sky TV (English) and a DVD player. These are all popular hangouts at any time of day.

Inclusive communal dining

At 8pm we all sit down together to eat a delicious 3 course meal, with wine included, in our spacious dining room with long tables. Meals can go on for hours as the conversation and wine starts to flow. Singles, couples and groups all mix together to create a jovial atmosphere.

Friendly welcoming ski team

Guest comments consistently pick out the welcoming and friendly nature of our ski team. There will always be someone to chat to, be it in the bar, lounge, fitting skis or on the slopes.

These are just some of the reasons why the Aravis Lodge is an ideal location for your next ski short break or holiday, and when you include the free lift pass and airport transfers, what more could you ask for!

No single supplement options

Whilst at the Aravis Lodge we are not in a position to offer rooms without a single supplement due to the popularity of the hotel, here and at our other accommodations, we can offer a ‘room pairing service’ where we can try to match you up with another solo skier of the same sex who would also like to share a room, and therefore remove the need for either of you to pay a single supplement.

If you are a single or solo skier interested in one of our holidays, and would potentially like to find a room share, please contact us.

Ordinarily the single room supplement is an additional 50% of the basic package rate, and if we can find you someone

to share a room with, your single supplement will be returned, or you can choose to cancel your booking if no-one comes forward.

However, if sharing a room really doesn’t appeal to you, at Hotel La Pointe Percée in Le Grand Bornand we do have a limited number of rooms available with no single supplement! These are 1 person rooms and are part of our Ski Weekender ‘Lite Package’, which includes all the base elements of catered accommodation, lift pass and airport transfers, but on a more independent basis. Afternoon tea isn’t included on these stays, and we don’t have any permanent on-site staff at La Pointe Percée.

Snow Reps Service – the new ski hosting

Sadly due to more rigorously enforced legislation restricting skiing with groups, we are no longer able to offer our popular ski hosting service, which was great for helping individuals to be more included.

However, we recognise the importance of such a service for our solo skiers, and have put in place an alternative which can be accessed by anyone staying in Le Grand Bornand or La Clusaz, both of which are great resorts for singles, but Le Grand Bornand in particular. This is our new Snow Reps Service. You can find out more about that, and other aspects of our holidays for singles here >>>

If you are interested in a short ski break, please check out the various options on our website, or contact us for further information. We can provide details on all aspects of your holiday, and are happy to discuss your requirements and offer suggestions.
