Please see below for an insight into and to meet our great Ski Team for this season!
Paul
Ski Weekender’s founder, used to be a snowboarder but is now to be found more often on skis. Although largely office based these days he enjoys grabbing a pair of skis whenever he gets the chance for a quick ski. He will be ensuring everything runs smoothly for your holiday and that all elements fall into place and the logistics work smoothly. Once that’s all done, he’s a fan of a cheeky beer of an evening, and can often be found in the lodge bar chatting before dinner.
Teak
Now in his eleventh winter with Ski Weekender, Teak is well settled in the Aravis with his family, and as a keen skier and road cyclist he makes the area his playground all year round. Teak plays a vital role in helping Paul with general operations around the business, and will be taking a lead in ensuring we get everyone out to the slopes in time for their lessons. He is always up for a chat over a beer to talk about great days out on the slopes or in the saddle.
Laura
Laura, originally from Brazil is back for her second winter season with us after living in Australia for 8 years where she fell in love with the mountains and snowboarding. She’s a passionate surfer, loves nature and the outdoors and is looking forward to her 2nd winter having made the beautiful Aravis her temporary home, enjoying the summers here too. She can’t wait to be fully immersed in the winter atmosphere once again and make this a memorable season with our team and guests.
David
David, originally from York, where he ran the many kitchens at York racecourse for more years than he cares to remember. Finally deciding it was time for a change he moved to Spain, and during the summer works in restaurants or as a private chef. Great for us he loves spending his winters in the Alps. Following fabulous feedback, David is back for his fifth winter in the Aravis so expect the amazing cakes and delicious food once again.
Kate
Kate, a 21 year old from Ireland has previously spent nearly all her summers walking and climbing in the Alps and cannot wait to see the landscape in the winter, covered in snow! Having spent the last two summers travelling, Kate has realised that combining this with being able to live and work is something she couldn’t miss out on! A complete novice on the slopes, Kate can’t wait to try skiing as well as using her past work in hospitality to bring a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the Lodge and making sure guests have a great time.
Ciara
Ciara has a love for the outdoors and has enjoyed skiing from a young age. She is thrilled to be joining us for her first ski season. After graduating from university earlier this year, she opted for a year of adventure to tick some things off her bucket list. Fresh from exploring South America, Ciara’s excited about immersing herself in the snowy Aravis and experiencing mountain life. With a background in customer-focused roles, she’s delighted to be part of the Ski Weekender team and is excited to help guests have an unforgettable stay.
Anna
Anna is a 28 year old Irish girl who was born and raised in a small town in the southwest of Ireland. She qualified as a primary school teacher and has spent time teaching in Australia and Abu Dhabi. She has a love for all types of sports, especially hiking, cycling and Gaelic football. On previous ski holidays she tended to spend a bit too much time in the bar and therefore, is still a beginner skier. So, if you see her on the slopes having some difficulty staying vertical make sure to give her a wave and some words of encouragement.
Jamie
Jamie has a cheerful and positive attitude, always ready to explore new places and experience new adventures. Jamie is originally from South Africa but now lives in the Netherlands. In her free time she enjoys sketching and bringing illustrations to life through animation. Her recent escapades have led her to the South of France, where she has worked in private villas and on yachts. She is now gearing up for the excitement of her first ski season.
Jack
Jack is originally from a small town on the east coast of Australia, 6 hours north of Sydney. He has grown up loving the coast and has surfed his whole life. He has spent many winters snowboarding in the mountains in Australia and after studying engineering and working in the field for the past four years, he is excited to be able to work in and explore the mountains here in the alps.
Christo
Originally from Durban South Africa, Christo has over 20 years’ experience as tour guide and driver. He decided to try something different in 2023 by working on a yacht in the Mediterranean as a service steward for the summer. This led him to Aravis / Skiweekender where he is experiencing his first season in a snow filled environment where he can learn to ski and experience life on the Alps. He is super excited about this opportunity and looks forward to welcoming guests and helping them have an excellent experience.
Antoine
Skiing with his father in the local mountains of Australia Antoine developed a love for snowsports and the alpine environment from a young age. He is keen to explore France, experience his first full season on the slopes and see a Christmas with snow for the very first time. Antoine loves getting into the outdoors, often escaping for a hike or camping trip on the weekends and ducking off for a swim at the beach when the weather is right. He loves meeting new people and is very keen to be part of the Ski Weekender team!
Adam
Freshly graduated, 22-year-old Adam from Northern Ireland is gearing up for an adventurous winter in the Aravis mountains. Excited to carve new paths on skis, explore the snow park, and dive into various winter sports, he’s fully prepared for the Alps challenge. Ready to welcome guests at the airport, Adam can’t wait to share the buzz and ignite the excitement for the awesome experiences awaiting in the Aravis mountains!
Ciara
Ciara, 18 years old from Ireland, is eager to join the team and get stuck in on her first ski season. She just finished secondary school and is taking a gap year before beginning her dream degree, veterinary medicine, in Dublin next September. In her free time she enjoys showjumping with her horses, baking and spending time outdoors. From a strong background in hospitality, she’s excited to spend the winter in the aravis lodge and meet lots of new people.
Emilia
Growing up Emilia went skiing in the Swedish mountains and after visiting the French alps twice decided that working a season in the alps would be a perfect change after studying 2 years at university. She likes to keep active whether it is skiing, hiking or rock climbing. Emilia has spent several summers working at hotels and is passionate to give guests the best holiday.
Amalia
Having never seen snow, Amalia decided it was an experience that was long overdue. Having grown up working on her family’s farm in South Australia, she learnt to love the outdoors from a young age, and through her travels has fallen even more in love with what nature provides! After 5 years of experience in the Wine Industry, she’s more than excited for a new adventure and ready to hang up her steel-toe shoes and break-in a new pair of snow boots!
Ian
Ian and his family swapped their life on the beach in the Philippines for the mountains of France. Ian may be your first contact at the airport of Geneva as he joins our transfer driving team for another winter season. A keen skier in the winter and trail runner during the summer months, he certainly knows his way around the Aravis mountains and will be happy to share his local insights on the drive from the airport.
